Get paid to be lazy

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone. 🙂

Here on the blog I like to share interesting opportunities to make money without doing a lot of work. That’s why many of my posts are about investing, which produces passive income. But actively working for money can also be very rewarding. 🙂 A few years ago I told my readers about a permanent full-time position that paid $60,000 a year for doing menial clerical duties. I would have applied for that job myself if I wasn’t already working full time.

Here’s another job posting I found recently for a full time position as a producer for a software company in Toronto. The job pays about $60,000 a year, for 40 hours a week. A university degree is NOT required, which means even I can apply for the job. The listed skills required for the job include working well with others, problem solving, critical thinking, and other subjective qualities. The position is still open so I would apply if I were living in Toronto. If the bar to land a $60,000/year job is set this low then I believe opportunities to make easy money are everywhere as long as we’re willing to go after them.

Speaking of easy money, I’ve recently learned that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is looking for volunteers for a new study. The recruited subjects will basically be tasked to lie in bed for 3 months and get paid to do so.

This experiment is meant to test the conditions that astronauts might experience in space. Subjects will do a variety of resistance and aerobic exercises while remaining on bed rest. Data about the volunteer’s bones, muscle mass, heart, and nervous system will be recorded by scientists. They hope to use the findings of this study to develop new methods to keep astronauts healthier and safer when they spend a long time in space in the absence of gravity.

NASA even has a modified shower device so the subjects can wash themselves without having to get out of bed. There’s also a device to go to the bathroom. And subjects can use this device for 2 main reasons: number 1…. and of course, number 2. 😀

As for compensation subjects will receive $1,200 USD a week for the study which can last up to 15 weeks. That’s a total of $18,000. 😀 Not bad for a few month of lying in bed. The study has been deemed safe by the Medical Branch at Galveston, a committee which oversees the safety and ethics of medical research studies with human subjects. So if you tend to have a hard time getting out of bed, then this NASA mission might be right for you. 🙂

The only requirement is you have to be in relatively good shape and a non-smoker. I was going to apply to be a volunteer but unfortunately you have to be a U.S. resident which I’m not. Maybe the Canadian Space Agency will have something for me instead lol. But I think it’s a little too late for Canada to join the space exploration game. We snooze we lose. After all, the U.S. won the space race only because Russia kept Stalin. 😀

I’d be the perfect candidate for this NASA study. One of my fav past times is snoozing in the comforts of my own bed.

I can’t imagine just lying in bed all day for 15 weeks wouldn’t do a terrible number on your body. I think I was bed-ridden sick one time for a week and that almost drove me crazy. No thanks NASA.

For me, it’s more difficult for a woman because we have monthly period. 🙂 But lying in bed for 105 days is really hard but the compensation is really good!

There is a guy in Japan claim to do sleep study. He targeted women, lured them to hotel. He gave them substances, and raped them. Maybe from a dude standpoint, it’s okay. From a girl’s perspective… No thank you. I’m sure nasa might get you to sleep in 0 gravity. The g-force will make you puke everything you got. $60k in pay $100k in medical bill ? The only thing you get out of it was “hey, I work for NASA”

Lol at the casting couch! Those are some odd jobs right there. I am still looking for a job to be a candy taste tester!
