Circumstances Change

Somewhere in the world right now there’s a person who is working 10 hours a day doing manual labour and making minimum wage. He realizes his life could be much better so he saves what he can to build the future that he wants. He believes that he can change his circumstances in life by working hard, and having a solid plan. He tries to start his own business but fails. But he tries again and again, sacrificing his time, savings, and energy to make it work. Eventually his company turns a small profit, which grows every year, and ten years later he is a millionaire 🙂

Meanwhile just down the street from the first person lives another man who just won the lottery and becomes a millionaire over night. He doesn’t think about how to use the money wisely. He just knows he’s rich now and believes he will stay rich forever, without considering that his circumstances might change over time. He starts to buy fancy cars, make friends with other people who also like to spend lots of money. He eats out almost every meal and becomes fat and lazy. He continues to buy lottery tickets hoping he would win again, but he doesn’t. Ten years later he realizes he has spent all of his money and is now broke 🙁

Which type of person are you? By making it on your own you can appreciate the ups of success because you’ve experienced the downs of failure. It can be tempting to immerse yourself in the bliss of good fortune, but enjoy it responsibly to make that feeling last 🙂 Circumstances in life can always change; people who don’t think their finances in the future can get better or get worse are not being honest with themselves. It’s important to understand where your life currently stands, where you want it to go, and how you’re going to make that happen. If the current circumstances around you suck, then find a way to change them 😀

Random Useless Fact:
Somebody made a ridiculous bet on the Germany vs Brazil World Cup game. Either that person can predict the future, or is just extremely lucky.

I wonder how many other bets they placed that lost. Although with that kind of payout I’m sure they still came out ahead. How was that even a real betting option? It’s not like 7 goals are all that common, especially in WC semis.

I can’t stand it when I hear people complain about how they can’t do this or can’t do that because they don’t have the money but they have a ridiculously large and expensive wardrobe or all the latest gadgets. Very few people will be able to out earn very high expense levels. Focus on what you can control and go and change something if you’re not happy with where you’re at.

P.S. Even though it’s a ridiculous long shot I’ll still play the lottery every now and then. Because if I got lucky I truly would be set for life.

LOL, that’s an awesome bet! Though the payout isn’t as much as I thought it would be considering the odds.

I’ve bought other home prizes that goes to charities, but I never win anything. I bought the PNE home prize lottery this year, my first time buying. If you don’t try, you will never win. WIsh me luck 🙂 I would know exactly how I would spend my money if I win the lottery.

Whoa, that bet! Why would anyone even place such a bet for a world cup semi-finals game? 😀

Also, great post. I think a lot of people won’t try to change things for the better as long as there’s not a sense of urgency or necessity. It’s far easier to blame someone else for your misfortunes or bad situation than putting in the hard work yourself to make it better.

I’ve seen it the other way around too though: people who always have everything going for them really can’t handle it when something isn’t going according to their plan, they just can’t seem to handle failure.

Ultimately, the ones who can adapt to their changing environment are the ones who will thrive (evolution theory, baby)!

I know the feeling! I set goals for myself on a regular basis, both physically and mentally. Otherwise you’ll slowly fall behind everyone around you without even noticing it.

I admire the person number 1, he works hard for his money. He didn’t spend his money on unnecessary things because he knew it that it’s not easy to earn money.

There are an infinite number of variables to get someone from point A to point B. If you are smart you can influence a few of those variables so that the gamble has a better chance of paying off. regardless life is meant to be enjoyed along the way, and if you miss that, what’s the point. – Cheers.

I remember before one in the TV show they featured a man who won in a lottery. He travelled a lot in abroad with his family, they even lived in a luxury hotel, bought fancy cars and things. Then one day, they realized that they don’t have enough money in the bank, the man kept on buying lottery tickets hoping that he would win again. But during that time he doesn’t have any more luck and ended up selling all his cars.

That bet is almost as ridiculous as Mark Cuban calling the first points of the superbowl to be whatever that weird conversion thing was (not a football fan over here!)
