Making Life Simple and Easy

It’s been a pretty busy week for people here in the Greater Vancouver area. Hockey playoffs, teachers taking job action, elections, and 4/20. I feel like the week went by way too fast. To unwind for the weekend here are some innovative ideas to save either time or money, or otherwise make our hectic lives a little more simple and manageable.

The wooden spoon suggestion works perfectly. I made soup yesterday and tried it out. The bubbles didn’t even build up high enough to touch my spoon. Why did I not know about this before (-_-‘) I’m not sure about the elevator trick though. I’ve only tried it a couple of times in my apartment and it appeared to have worked but I don’t know if that was just coincidence in both cases, lol. Feel free to share any quirky or interesting ideas you may have.

I’m definitely trying the elevator trick. I’ll have to convince my wife to stop buying Swiffer cloths too 🙂

The elevator trick would be so useful when you’re in a hurry.

I bookmarked this post because I always love the tips that I see but I always forget where I saw them! Anyway, YES to the swiffer thing. I never buy the pads, I just use elastic bands and a dish towel. It works just fine, it’s eco friendly, and frugal! WOO!

Same here, especially since my apartment is quite small. Save money and the environment.

Very cool ideas. A lot of these are quite ingenious. The ones that I’m going to have to keep in mind are the coat-hanger for wrapping lights and the wooden spoon to prevent overboiling. The elevator trick is probably better to try on the way down to the lobby or parking, but it’s a bit of a douche move. So I’d probably only try that one if I was in a rush.

Haha, douche move. The hard part is probably remembering to do these things when the opportunity arises.

The post-it notes to catch wallboard debris is almost embarrassingly simple.

Really awesome tips! I have to admit the bowl speaker caught my eye, as did the Japandroids. Best band to come out of Vancouver. I’ve met them before and really down to earth guys. Definitely going to be using a few of these.

That’s pretty hardcore. I’ve never met any celebrities before. I’m surprised you recognize their album, awesome.

Those are great ideas! Im emailing this post to my mum. She has an issue with water boiling over, along with xmas lights.

Who comes up with this stuff? Pure genius! I’ve seen the wooden spoon trick before but I forgot to do it. Next time I will. The christmas lights thing is pretty cool too.

Next time my BF is drilling something I’ll hand him a post-up LOL! He’ll be like wtf is this for??? I’ll look so smart and crafty.

I love the cardboard tube idea. I have a box that’s full of tangled cords so I think that would help me stay organized. A lot of good ideas here.

Hey, some very interesting bits of advice here. I particularly like the elavator trick. I’m gonna have to try this out when I’m next in one!

Some nifty tips. Must admit I’ve never heard of the wooden spoon/boiling water idea before. I must try it!
